When to use 86d

Use 86d when you want to inspect, run, or extend the open-source software behind one store. Use this page to find the source, documentation, and public files that tools can read without a browser.

Public surfaces

  • OpenAPI specification: /openapi.json. Describes GET /api/agent and POST /api/contact.
  • Agent discovery JSON: GET /api/agent. A short machine-readable summary of 86d and its public links.
  • llms.txt: a text overview of 86d, its current limits, and its public links.
  • Documentation: https://86d.app/docs.
  • Documentation Model Context Protocol (MCP) server: https://86d.app/docs/mcp. It searches documentation and cannot change a store.
  • Markdown versions: add .md to a supported page path, or send Accept: text/markdown. Homepage: /index.md.
  • Contact: product and technical questions.

Store APIs

Each self-hosted store exposes its own commerce API on its own domain. 86d.app does not yet publish an API for managing stores. Agent access for those operations is also still in development. Internal APIs are not public.

Rhyming Slang for "Nix"

Long before it hit the restaurant floor, "nix" was the word for shutting something down—refusing it, canceling it, killing it on the spot. Somewhere along the way, "eighty-six" latched on as rhyming slang, and the number stuck. Nix became 86, and 86 became the way you made something disappear.
